Braille eReaders Available in Minnesota!
The Minnesota Braille and Talking Book Library, in partnership with the Communication Center at State Services for the Blind, has braille eReaders available to be sent to eligible users of braille. The braille eReader has a 20-cell braille display and an eight-key, Perkins-style keyboard. For those who have a BARD account, it can download books directly from the library over wi-fi. An SD card or a flash drive can be connected to transfer braille-ready files or other document types from other sources. The device does not have a stand-alone notetaking function but can connect as a braille display and keyboard for a computer or smart phone. Note that it is a braille-only device, with no audio output.
If you do not yet have a braille eReader and would like to request one, call the Library at 800-722-0550, or call 651-539-2300 and ask for the equipment desk at the Communication Center. They will verify your address and your preference for receiving materials.
